Sustainability Lead – Packaging Sector
Location - Birmingham (hybrid, 2 days office)
Salary - £55,000 – £70,000 + bonus
Job Type - Permanent, Full-Time
Company Overview -
A national packaging group supplying retail, FMCG, and eCommerce sectors with primary and transit packaging. Following a major strategic review, they are investing in a new ESG function and hiring their first Sustainability Lead.
Role Summary -
This is a standalone, cross-functional leadership role responsible for designing and implementing the company’s sustainability roadmap, including packaging innovation, carbon footprint reduction, and supply chain transparency.
Key Responsibilities -
- Define and lead ESG and sustainability strategy for the group
- Collaborate with packaging development, ops, and procurement
- Identify sustainable material alternatives and support client innovation
- Lead data collection and reporting for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions
- Develop partnerships with recycling and circular economy organisations
- Manage regulatory compliance and external sustainability audits
Skills & Experience Required -
- 3+ years in a sustainability, ESG or CSR-focused role
- Strong understanding of packaging lifecycle and material impact
- Experience with UK and EU packaging and waste legislation
- Excellent stakeholder influencing and reporting skills
