Company Overview - 
This leading food manufacturing group supplies own-label and branded products to all major UK retailers. With sustainability at the core of their packaging strategy, they are seeking an experienced Packaging Technologist to support their innovation pipeline and ESG goals.

Role Summary - 
Reporting into the Packaging Development Manager, you will lead packaging projects from concept through to launch, ensuring technical feasibility, cost-efficiency, and environmental compliance. You'll liaise cross-functionally with suppliers, production, NPD, and sustainability teams.

Key Responsibilities - 

• Develop and test primary and secondary packaging solutions
• Investigate and implement sustainable packaging materials
• Conduct supplier trials, transit tests, and line trials
• Liaise with third-party packaging vendors and spec developers
• Ensure packaging meets legal and retailer technical standards
• Support the sustainability roadmap with material innovations
• Compile technical specifications and documentation

Skills & Experience Required - 

• Degree in Packaging, Food Science, Materials Engineering, or similar
• Minimum 2 year's experience in FMCG packaging development
• Strong understanding of food contact materials and compliance
• Hands-on experience with shelf-life and transport testing
• Passion for sustainable packaging trends and innovation
